The dress itself was cute. It just didn't fit me well, so I returned it for a refund. That was OVER 7 WEEKS AGO!!! I order from catalogs all the time, and from my experience the standard time for processing returns is about 7 business days! Their clothes are nice, but I will not be ordering from them again!!!

It's nice everyone has a nice review....SO FAR!! I guess there's not a problem with Newport News UNLESS YOU HAVE TO RETURN SOMETHING! Then, there's a BIG problem!! They take at least 2 months to refund your money for a return. Please read complaints against them on the internet before you order. Amazon has been informed of this and I am not sure why they continue to sell this company's merchandise.

I already had the peasant dress from Newport News deminology collection, so I was very excited when I saw this dress. I ordered it in 3 different colors and love all 3, but the orange-spice is my favorite. Once I recieved the dresses, I went to buy shoes and purses to match and found I was able to buy just 1 purse and 1 pair of sandals that match all 4 of my peasant style dresses. It can be worn for many different casual occasions from just walking on the beach to a casual wedding. My husband didn't mind that I bought 3 at once because he loves the way the dresses look on me. I am 8 pds overweight, but the dress doesn't show it. With the waistline on it, it shows the curves I have and because it does have a little sleeve to it I don't feel selfconcious about my arms. I love how feminine it is, it's fun to wear and has a flirty, romantic look to it. It's a dress that can be worn of a wide range of ages. I'm 45 and feel younger when I wear it, but it doesn't look like I'm wearing a dress trying to look younger.

I purchased this for a casual beach wedding, and it's perfect. The wide elastic waist is flattering, whether you have curves or not. Crinkle fabric makes it easy for travel -- just fold in half lengthwise and roll it from top to bottom. The elastic around neckline allows for you to widen or narrow the neckline to your taste, and elastic band on sleeves helps keep it in place. My only regret is not ordering it sooner, because I could only get it in brown. Looks nice, but brown isn't my favorite color. Give it a shot if you need a casual, comfortable dress that would be appropriate for most any occasion.

I love Newport News cuz it's one of the few places that sells classy, natural-fabric apparel in petite as well as large sizes--non of that stiff, polyester stuff--and they're relatively inexpensive!! In addition to their chic, high-fashion items, Newport also carries lots of frilly, beribboned, nostalgic things, a nice change with styles being so plain these days. You can easily go historic or goth. This particular off-the-shoulder dress is cheap and dashing, with a relaxed fit. The loosely woven gauze tends to tear easily at the seams, though, hence only 3 stars. (I had this problem with a gauze tiered skirt I ordered from them, too.}
